Esperanza "Hopie" C. Nelson, age 66, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Hopie was born July 31, 1954 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Antonia Benavente and Gomersindo Castillo.

Hopie is survived by her spouse, John Dean Nelson; son John Nelson Jr. (Yadira); and daughter Erin Nelson Sarafin (Mariko). She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Mya and Michael.

Hopie was preceded in death by father Gomersindo Castillo and mother Antonia Benavente.
