Born January 31, 1936 in Bakersfield, California, he passed away July 14, 2018 in Visalia, California. Joseph was raised in Corcoran, California by his parents Louis and Joseph Plazola. He was 1955 graduate of Corcoran High School. Joseph enlisted in the Unites State Army and serviced from 1957- 1959 with the 25th Infantry “Tropic Lightning” at Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa Hawaii and was a proud Veteran.
He married the Love of His life, Mary Frances Escalante, May 17th, 1959. They resided in Bakersfield, California and had three children together. In 1972, they moved their family to Visalia to make their home.
Joseph worked as a Machinist until retirement from Hellers Performance Polymers in 2001. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Visalia.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances and son, Richard Louis. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Teresa (his Doll) and son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Tammie, daughter in law Theresa and his “Reasons for Living”, Reece Michael and Ryleigh Frances; sister and brother-in-law, Josie Garcia, Gina & Art Escalante; beloved nieces, nephews, compadres, dear friends, Godchildren, extended children, neighbors and grand kids of his heart – you know who you are!
Dad was a very talented artist and woodworker and enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He was Grandpa to the neighborhood and always had a pump needle, patch, glue or tool to fix or air up anything. He loved and completed crossword puzzles (in ink) to the very end. We will miss him most in our nightly Jeopardy challenge. Dad was a kind, generous, intelligent, handsome, dignified, lovely man…Miss you Pop/Grandpa!
Memorial Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2108, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St., Mary’s Catholic Church, 608 N. Church Street in Visalia.
