Evelyn Moore

Evelyn Fay Moore passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born on a farm in Penelope, Texas to Marvin and Lottie Mullins May on July 17, 1932. She was the sixth of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

In 1949 she met and married Charles H. Moore of Hubbard, Texas. To this union was born three children. She is survived by those children, Janis Massey, Charles Michael Moore and Shelley Martinez. She is also survived by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one brother, Bill May.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Malone, Texas on Saturday, March 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Byron Harris officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. The family will receive friends and family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors in Waco, Texas.

Evelyn lived most of her life in the Hubbard area. She was known for her beautiful yard filled with every kind of flower, her rock garden (I cannot tell you how many times we had to stop and pick up a rock that was twice as big as we were for that rock garden), her pecan pies (the best in three counties, her great granddaughter Morgan says) and her indomitable spirit.

Growing up on a farm shaped her life. She was a homemaker, a caregiver, an excellent cook and a strict disciplinarian. She was hard working and intolerant of what she called “pure laziness”. Consequently her children learned good work ethics, to always tell the truth and to love the Lord. Thank You Mama.
