Raymond John Lankford passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023 at his residence in Victoria, Texas. He was born in Bauxite, Arkansas on April 23, 1943, the son of Raymond John Lankford, Jr., and Janice Grimmett Lankford.
Raymond graduated from Polly High School in Fort Worth, Texas and attended North Texas University when he enlisted in the Marine Corps until his honorable discharge. He met and married his wife while living in Fort Worth, Texas. Raymond is a retired Engineer from the Union Pacific Railroad. He is an accomplished musician having played the trumpet. Raymond likes fishing and is a sports fan especially football.
Everybody who knew him has loved him and he loved them in return. Raymond will be missed by his relatives and lots of friends. We are thankful God gave us time to share with this special man.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lankford; son, Ray John Lankford and wife, Joy and son, Rocky Romano; grandchildren: Ivyanne Leaquita and Javier Villabos and R. J. Lankford, great-grandson, River Augustine Villabos; nieces and nephews, Scarlett and Steve Prater, Brenda and Fred Worthey.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery 2124 South 5th Street Waco, Texas 76706. There will be a reception following the graveside service at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors at 4400 West Waco Dr. Waco, Texas 76710.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriners Children Hospital.
