Clarence Forey Shaffer, born Dec. 10, 1930, in Williamsport, Pa., passed away in La Plata, Md. on Jan. 29, 2019. He is survived by his three children, Joanne (Stephen) Whittaker, Michael (Wendy Dennison) Shaffer, and Cindy (Robert) Rohrabaugh; grandchildren, Andy (Erica) Whittaker, Kathryn Shannon, and Matthew Whittaker; great-grandchildren, Emma and Raelynn Shannon, and Roman and Oliver Whittaker. Clarence is also survived by his brothers, Marvin (Patricia), and Merritt (Florence) . Clarence is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Dorothy Shaffer; grandson, Jonathan Whittaker; brothers, Aaron, Chester, Clark, and Stewart; and his sister, Dorothy Lucas. He was a kind-hearted and generous person. His family was the world to him and he loved spending time with them. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loyal Redskins fan. He enjoyed lively political debates and home projects in his earlier years. He was proud to be a Williamsport native and to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the Federal Government Department of Defense as a communications specialist. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
