Joyce was outgoing and adventurous. She liked to travel, including trips to England, France, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, and the Caribbean with her daughter and her close-knit group of friends. She loved to golf. She was very active in various singles golf and social clubs, where she enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends. Art was always a passion for her, and in her later years she treasured attending art classes with her children.
Joyce was proud of her accomplishments in education. She received a Masters’ degree in Public Administration when her kids were in college. She cherished her time working with students at Oakland University helping them choose career paths and find internships. Before working at the University, she taught at high school and community college. Throughout her life, she loved spending time at the lake, including boating, water skiing, fishing, and ice skating.
Joyce is the beloved mother of Kristin Deceuninck and Brian Esterberg (Pia Roman), cherished grandmother of Chandler Deceuninck, and caring sister of Keith (Diane) Redd.
Visitation will be held on January 20, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM with a celebration of life at 5:00PM, at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, at Masonic, in Warren. She will be laid to rest with her parents and grandparents at Romeo Cemetery.
