Marguerite Jane Scherer, age 87 of Sterling Heights, died Friday, September 23, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 18, 1929 in Detroit, daughter of the late Stanislaw James and the late Anna Elizabeth (nee: Mangliers) Eisbrenner. In this progressive and ever-changing world in which we live, being able to share the wonderful story of an old-fashioned romance seems to affirm a sense of balance,…if only for this brief account. For Marguerite, it all began in her teenage years when she met a fellow clerk by the name of Jack who worked at an adjacent store to hers. Their budding romance, like many "back in the day," was quite subdued and innocent as they simply worked towards becoming good friends. When they did finally decide to dip their toes into the pool of dating, there was only 1 right and honorable thing for Jack to do,…seek her parents' permission to do so. (Oh,…that we could return to those days.)As Jack will recount, he and Marguerite (known more affectionately as Marge) "kept company" for the next 2 years as their relationship grew and their love blossomed, which ultimately led to their glorious engagement,…which also lasted for a couple more years. Marge promised herself in marriage to that dashing young man she met as a teenager, and with whom she went on to share the next 66 plus years building a home, raising a family, and growing deeper in love with each passing day. And it should probably be mentioned that her family consisted of 5 boys, all of whom kept her quite busy. When it came time for enjoying a little entertainment, Marge and Jack loved to break out the deck of playing cards and invite their friends over for a game of Pinochle. Nothing spells "fun" like gathering around a card table for a rousing game of cards, some great conversation, and perhaps a bit of competitive pleasures. As time went on and the wave came through, the other card game they came to enjoy was the Euchre. Now that was an entirely different bag-o-tricks, but always made for a hoot of a time. Whatever the game or the reason for getting together, Marge was always a gracious host and found great enjoyment with her friends. Her friends were known to share,…if you had Marge for a friend, she was truly your best friend. As devout as she was to her friends, Marge was also extremely devoted to her Roman Catholic faith; an inner strength and guiding force that kept her centered and refreshed. For a woman who truly possessed the heart of a servant, she leaves behind a countless list of lives that were touched through the blessings she bestowed,…simply by being the wonderful and caring person everybody knew her to be, especially her family. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marge's compassion will live on through the hearts and lives she molded daily right within the walls of her home. She always managed to pour the lion's share of her TLC into others, and sought to make family the most important focus in life,…and it showed. She fought the good fight of faith, especially in dealing with the challenges of Dementia. Although she will be tremendously missed by her family and friends, these same loved ones can now share how comforted they are that Marge is pain-free, suffering-free, Dementia-free,…and safely in the arms of her precious Lord. Rest in peace, dear one. Marguerite was the beloved wife of Jacob. Dearest mother of Douglas Scherer, David (Diane) Scherer, Thomas (Lynnette) Scherer, Bruce (Peggy) Scherer, and Michael (Anne) Scherer. Loving grandmother of Matthew, Anna, Zoe, and great-grandmother of Madelyn.
