Stanley was born on October 17, 1938 to Stanley and Constance (nee Krysicki) Denek in Detroit. He attended St. Bartholomew Grade School and was a proud graduate of U of D Jesuit High School, creating lasting memories during his time there. He then attended the Cleveland Institute of Arts, paving the way for his employment at General Motors as a sculptor who made clay models of cars. He also used his artistic talents in many other various ways.
Stan had a longtime love of sailing and explored the Great Lakes on Le Sanctuaire, his sailboat. It was his favorite way to spend his time, out on the water with the wind in his sails. He was very active in the US Power Squadron in Mount Clemens as a lifetime member and instructor, passing his love for sailing on to the next generation. He is a former member of North Star Sail Club and National Carousel Association. His generosity did not stop at sailing as he had a soft spot for helping children in need.
For the past 7 years he resided at Orchard Grove in Romeo during which he fought his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Stan’s family would like to thank the entire staff for the wonderful care, treatment and compassion he received.
The family of Stan will be holding his funeral services privately. If you wish to continue Stan’s legacy on in the form of a donation, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation. Stan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, as well as the waters he sailed.
