Born in New York City, the daughter of the late Abraham and Clara (Weiss) Bond, she was a longtime resident of the East Bay of Rhode Island.
Miriam and Alvin moved to New City, New York to raise their three children. She was a founding member of Temple Beth Sholom in New City and was active in its Sisterhood. For many years she was a weekly columnist for the Rockland Review, and enjoyed art and drawing. After Alvin passed away, she moved to Lakehurst, New Jersey for the next phase of her life, before ultimately moving to the East Bay area.
Miriam enjoyed traveling, visiting numerous countries around the world including England, Italy, The Netherlands, France, Israel, Egypt, China, and Japan, and many places in the U.S. She made friends easily and doted on her grandchildren and loved being a great-grandmother.
She is survived by her two sons, Eric Chason and his wife Cate of Barrington, RI, and Marc Chason and his wife Chris of Schaumburg, Illinois; one daughter, Lisa Chason of Urbana, Illinois; one brother, Elihu Bond and his wife Mary; five grandchildren, Emily Faulkner (Jeff), Melanie Vianzon (Michael), Hannah Chason, Lara Van der Jagt (Jelmer) and Kim Nederveen Pieterse and three great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Lillian Chason.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren followed by burial in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
