Ljubica (Luba) M. Valerio was born August 10, 1940, in Belgrade, formerly Yugoslavia. She was educated in the Belgrade school systems and upon graduation, obtained a position at the Unite States Embassy in Belgrade. It was at the United Embassy that she me a clerk, John Valerio, Jr., who in 1961 were married in both a state and religious ceremony on Valentine’s Day. Later in 1961, John’s term I n the military was over and they return to the Unites States and settled in Cranston, R.I. Luba was employed at the Jeweler’s Board of Trade in the fall of 1961. After his contract with Browne and Sharp was finished, John got an offer to join the administration from his former boss who was now employed at the State Department in Washington, DC. Initially, Luba and her husband John lived on Rhode Island Avenue and then in 1977 purchased a hoke in Chevy Chase, MD.
In 1971, Luba received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and in 1973 she earned a Master’s degree from American University. She as a professor at the University of Maryland for several years and in 1982 opened Meadowood Realty. She worked as a real estate until 2015.
Luba passed away suddenly at her home earlier this month. A graveside service will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD at 11 am on Thursday, July, 1, 2021. Please omit flowers. Donations in her memory may be given to your favorite charity.
