Clifford W. Stegen of Rock Tavern, entered into rest on August 16, 2011, at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 89. He was born in Ramsey, NJ, on November 23, 1921, to Arthur Stegen and Ruth Stephens Stegen. Clifford was the husband of Grace C. Alcock Stegen; they were married for 67 years. Clifford was a retired Plant Supervisor for NJ Bell Telephone Co. and a retired Major in the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He loved to bowl, fish, hunt and play golf. Clifford was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Grace C. Stegen of Rock Tavern; son, Bruce C. and his wife, Anne Stegen of Mahwah, NJ; daughter, Patricia A. and her husband, Donald Meyers of Franklin Lakes, NJ; brothers, Norman and his wife, Jean Stegen of Ramsey, NJ, and Arthur Stegen of Oklahoma, as well as five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, June Greiner.
Cremation will be private. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Tuesday August 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church of Washingtonville, with Clifford’s cremains to be buried at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
