1921 – 2018
Waterville – Elizabeth I. Lagasse, of Waterville, passed away on August 11, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born in Bath, Maine, daughter of the late Frank and Eva (Daigneault) Dyer. She was married to Joseph Albert Lagasse in 1942, celebrating 52 years of marriage together before his passing 1994.
As a homemaker, at a time when being one was possible, Elizabeth enjoyed the simpler things in life like Sunday drives, perch fishing at Lovejoy Pond, canning pickles and tomatoes from the garden, feeding and watching “her” birds and tending to her favorite flowers, yellow roses.
After Albert died, she was fortunate to be included by her sisters-in-law: Margaret Woodbury, Jeannette Vigue and Juliette Gauthier in their many trips to Quebec, Canada, where the group enjoyed French music and making new friends.
It was Albert’s wish that she live in her home for as long as she was able and that was made possible when her son, Len, moved in and cared for her for several years. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Inland Hospital and Mount St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, especially Jeremiah, for their thoughtful and sincere care.
Elizabeth is survived by three children: Edward (Pete) Lagasse and companion Roberta Holt, Patricia Cyr and husband Daniel, Leonard Lagasse; her five grandchildren: Janet Dyer, Brian Cyr and wife Julie, Karen Ellis and husband Chris, Keith Cyr, Kenneth Cyr; her four great-grandchildren: Katie Cyr, Nolan Cyr, Trenton Ellis and Spencer Dyer. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Albert; an infant daughter, Priscilla; her sister Delphine Goodno and special aunt and uncle Antoinette and Leander Daigneault.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday August 20, 2018 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville with burial following in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville, ME.
