Born April 3, 1978 in Charlottesville, he was the husband of Krissy Smith Herring and the son of Sylvester Lawrence Herring, Jr. and Carolyn Powell Herring.
Trae was a unique, creative and quick witted person who was beloved by all and knew no stranger. He prided himself on passion and love. As a dedicated husband, son, friend and co-worker, Trae found within his spirit to keep every aspect of his life filled with meaning, excitement, adventure and happiness. His passion and love was the driving force behind his success and happiness. He was sincere in all aspects of his life and was just as committed to his family as his sports teams, love of video games, Batman, Dad jokes, The Christmas Story, work and antiques. Trae's passion can be described best by Nelson Mandela's famous quote, "There is no passion to be found playing small in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." Even during his time of illness, there was a dedication to fight. He never gave up, made excuses, or stopped doing what he loved. There are many valuable lessons he unknowingly taught people about life and living it to the fullest extent. There is not a day that will go by where someone won't feel his presence, be reminded of a funny one liner, or putting passion and love above all.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Sylvester Lawrence Herring, Sr.
In addition to his wife and parents, Trae is survived by his maternal grandmother, Jean Wiebel; paternal grandmother, Gladys Herring; those who he considered his brothers and sisters, Maurice Walker, Ken Sosnowski, David Goverman, Wes Reaves, Tanner and Erin Boyle and Shannon Walsh; nieces and nephews, Mason Wyatt, Cameron, Natalie and Spencer Boyle and Marley Dorman; mother-in-law, Pam Sullivan and husband, George Cronk; father-in-law, Scott Smith; as well as a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
