Frank D. Reece, aka, “Silver Fox”, 76 died on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family and his beloved dog, Lucy Ann. Frank was born in Jackson County on January 7, 1942, to the late Elbert and Bonnie Barnes Reece. Frank was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing, hunting, and playing golf. Another of his favorite pass times was riding the backroads of Haywood County. He served his country honorably in the US Army and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5202 and was also a member of American Legion Post #47. He was the past commander of both Posts.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester, James, Jack, Homer, Charlie, Bill, and Jim Reece; and two sisters, Edna Mae Cagle and Doris Potts.
Frank is survived by his wife, Cathy Reece; daughters, Jennifer Tortora (Frank), Fredda Wallace (Rick), Chrisanna Reece (Chad), and Beth Hill (Andrew); grandchildren, Frank III, Elise, Alexander, Hannah, Joseph, and Carsyn; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Reece, and Carl Reece (Linda); and many very special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
