She was born April 5, 1929 in Dublin, Texas to Carl Fredrick and Pauline Christiana Weiser Gerhardt. Pauline had a career as an elementary school teacher. After retiring from teaching, she worked at Allstate. Pauline taught all of her siblings how to play the piano. Her skills with the piano led her to learn how to play the pipe organ for church services. Pauline traveled the world as a member of the “Houston Choral” choir. Family was important to her and she spent many years taking care of her great-grandchildren.
Pauline’s hobbies were ceramics and painting. She was an amazing cook. She loved watching birds, especially cardinals. While still in her home, her garden of flowers and ferns received great care and attention from her. After moving to Orchard Park, she loved sitting outside in the sunshine and tending to the flower gardens. She loved sharing fond memories of her father, who owned a Coca-Cola Bottling Company and was always especially happy when a visitor would bring her a Coca-Cola and a chocolate Hershey candy bar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilyn Berner; brothers, Raymond and Gerald Gerhardt; and daughter, Diane Hamil.
Left behind to cherish Pauline’s memory are her sisters, Kathlyn Gerhardt and Nancy Daggett; daughters, Cynthia Gaudet, Jeanette Hamil Foltz, and Miriam Louise Nelson; grandchildren, Stephanie Gaudet, Jean Pierre Gaudet, Nathaniel Foltz, Natalie Foltz, Brandy Anderman, Robert Nelson; and 12 great-grandchildren.
