Genevieve Durio

Genevieve Durio, 71, of Welsh, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Golden Age of Welsh. She was born to her late parents, McKinley and Lorena Romero on November 4, 1947 in Mermentau, LA. She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. She enjoyed painting, rosary jewelry, coloring, and most of all, loved her grandchildren. She was known by "Mom" to many.

She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Durio and wife Shela of Welsh, Brian Durio and fiancé Linda of Welsh; two brothers, Ray Romero and wife Shirley of Crowley, Hilton Romero and wife Terri of Mermentau; two sisters, Martha Deshotel of Jennings, Emmalee Newman and husband Morris of Jennnings; grandchildren, Sarah Watkins, Hannah Durio, Nolen Durio, Louis Durio, Vernon Corbett, Hydecka Provence, Brian G. Durio, Jordan Durio, Jason Goode, Daniel Durio, Lorena Durio; and eleven great grandchildren.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Woodrow Durio; parents; one son, Mitchell Durio; two sisters, Sue Boudreaux, Rena Fontenot; along with a granddaughter, Ashely Durio.

Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 2:00pm with Deacon Wayne Chapman officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, with a Rosary at 6:00pm, led by the Catholic Daughters. Visitation
