He was a member of the DAV, lifetime member of the National Press Photographers Association, member of the Iowa Press Photographers Association, and a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church of Urbandale. Marilyn

We are so sad to hear of Del’s passing. We have a lot of fond memories of Del during our time as neighbors living in Cobblestone as we sat on your front porch exchanging life experiences. We will never forget Del’s professional expertise and pride in photography and journalism as he took so much time in capturing the essence of life. Del always made us feel good about ourselves when our conversations came to an end. What a positive and enlightening person to have shared your 60 years with, Marilyn!

He will be sorely missed and surely a void has been created in our lives by those who knew and loved him. Marilyn, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in these difficult days, but know that Del is in a much greater place.

Death is a tragedy, yet it is a blessing because when we pass in this world, we get to go onto the next to meet our loved ones who have done the same before us. Prayers to Shawn and the entire family.

I have to add another little story about my big brother....On the trip to New York that Geri took with Marilyn and Del they visited the store called Tiffanys. There was a hugh diamond necklace there and he asked the price. When told it was $25,000.00 he asked if they had two. No, they just had the one so Del replied "Oh, sorry I need two." That was my big brother, quick witted and funny....a dry humor like our dad. The stories of him have come flooding back in the last few days, he will always be in our hearts. I love you, brother!

Delmar was a wonderful person! Always had the right things to say. He adored Hunter Michael & Hunter adored him! I remember one year at Christmas Hunter got a bumble ball & Uncle Del thought it was so neat & wanted one. So the next time we saw him we made sure that Hunter gave him one! It was always nice to see his face light up!! He will be greatly missed!!

Uncle Del was always smiling. He worked at Eastman Kodak for many years. Once when times were lean for Kodak, he said there was a runnung joke in the office. He said the good news is that I have been here for so long, I will always have a job...The bad news is...I won't need a tie! Love you Uncle Del.
