Donald Clifford Schowalter was born on August 7, 1928 in Prescott, IA and died on August 3, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines followed by a military graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with a Rosary at 6 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie (Riggle) Schowalter and Arnold Herbert Schowalter; sister, Dorothy Darlene (Schowalter) Kuhns, and daughter, Debra Ann (Schowalter) Walters.
Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Jean (Trenkle) Schowalter; daughter, Denise Kay Schowalter of Minneapolis, MN; son-in-law Scott Harding Walters of Davenport, IA; and extended family in Iowa and Nebraska.
