Maria Green

Des Moines Maria Green, 80, of Des Moines died on May 11, 2022. Maria was born on May 16, 1941 in Bokane, Yugoslavia to Alexander and Magdalena (Hansl) Nadler. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1952. She retired from the Principal Financial Group. She was a member of Lincoln Heights Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included gardening and volunteering. She is survived by her daughters Cathe Lewis (David) of Bloomington, MN and Linda Green-Witmer (Steven) of Urbandale; 3 grandchildren; sister Anna Klener of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Harry E. “Pete” Green, Jr. A private memorial service will be held. Inurnment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Heights Lutheran Church, Church World Services or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Church World Services holds special meaning as this organization provided assistance to Maria’s family when immigrating to the United States.
