Mark Alvin Brase, passed away on February 10th, 2024, at Harmony West Des Moines. He was born October 5, 1949, in Waverly, IA to Alvin W. Brase and Rosalie A. (Reuscher) Brase. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mark graduated from Plainfield High School in 1967 and later attended the United Electronics Institute in Des Moines, graduating in 1969. For forty-six years, Mark was an employee of Dahl’s Foods. He worked in a total of eight locations and worked his way up to become company president. In addition, he joined the board of directors in 2012 for the Iowa Grocery Industry Association and served until retirement.
Growing up, Mark enjoyed pheasant hunting with his family at their farm. He had many additional hobbies such as working in the yard and attending sporting events, but fishing was by far his favorite. He would take yearly fishing trips with family and friends. This led to many exciting stories to share with the grandchildren. In his free time, Mark would support his favorite teams: the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Minnesota Twins. Mark enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and made sure to cheer them on through every sporting event or competition, whether it was running, dancing, or playing ball.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannie (Swoboda) Brase, whom he married on May 16th of 1982; his children, Chris (Jessica) Brase of Des Moines, and Melisa (Matt) Morris of Des Moines; his four grandchildren, Drew Brase, Payton Morris, Reese Brase, and Haley Morris; his three brothers, Dean (Deb) Brase of Cedar Falls, Bruce Brase of Austin, TX, and Ross (Peg) Brase of Waverly, and nine nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Rosalie Brase.
