Robert W. Reid Jr.

Robert W. Reid Jr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Deerfield Retirement Community in Urbandale, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at McLaren’s Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at 6 p.m.

Robert was born April 14, 1930 in Union City, Indiana to Dr. Robert William Reid Sr. and Lena Mae Dye. Bob farmed with his dad through the 1950’s. He managed one of the earliest hog confinements in Indiana. After 10 years he and his family moved to Lafayette, IN where he received a B.S. in Ag Farm Management from Purdue University. He subsequently worked for Kimberly Clark, OMC, Jacobsen and retired from Homelite Division of Textron as President in 1995. He also resided in Charlotte, NC from 1990 to 2006 and Galesburg, IL from 1974 to 1984.

Bob and his wife of 58 years, Patsy Reid, loved to travel, play golf, and spend time with family and friends on their boat.

Robert is survived by his children, Robert W. (Suzanne) Reid of Hopkinsville, KY, Sue (Mike) Harsbarger of Eugene, OR, and Jeff (Susie) Reid of Granger, IA; grandchildren, Aaron (Amber) Gorham of Davenport, IA, Chris (Amber) Gorham of Evansville, IN, Kanya (Levi) Ewer of Honolulu, HI, and Amber and John Reid of Granger, IA; great-grandchildren, Reid and Lily Gorham of Davenport, IA; and sister, Roberta (Bob) Goodman of Camarillo, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Patsy M. Reid.
