Thomas A. Benaroch, 70, of South Harwich, MA died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born in New York City, NY the son of the late Robert L. and Isabel (Schneider) Ben-aroch. Tom grew up on Long Island in Massapequa, NY and attended St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington. He was a graduate of the State University of New York – Stony Brook, where he met his future wife Katherine “Kay” Lermond.

Tom worked in the Information Technology field for many years. At the age of 50, he pursued his Teaching Certificate from Leslie University and continued in the field of education for the next 14 years working for Hawthorne Brook Middle School in Townsend, MA.

After many years of family vacations on the Cape, Tom and Kay decided to retire on Cape Cod settling in South Harwich. Before retirement, Tom and his family lived in Groton, MA.

Tom was a member of the National Guard. In his leisure, he enjoyed cooking, gourmet food, craft cocktails, the Boston Celtics, creating music playlists, his mini Schnauzer "Schnapps" and traveling. He especially loved Saint John, the smallest of the 3 US Virgin Islands. He also loved the Cape Cod beaches.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Katherine “Kay” (Lermond) Benaroch; son Paul (and wife Kathleen) Benaroch of Townsend, MA; daughter Michelle Benaroch of Washington, DC; brother Richard of Merrimack, NH and sister Joan (and husband Eric) Davidson of Pepperell, MA.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, September 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Doane, Beal & Ames, 260 Main St. (Route 28), West Harwich, MA 02671. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, September 27th at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Main St. (Route 28), West Harwich, MA 02671. Burial will follow in South Harwich Cemetery on Chatham Road in South Harwich.
