Answorth Morrison Simmonds was born November 21, 1952 in Potters Village, Antigua to Ruth Lewis and Harold Simmonds. He grew up in Golden Grove, Antigua where he was raised by his great-grandmother, Rebecca Jarvis and grandmother, Ida Wiltshire. He was trained in various trades by his Uncle Dickie and Mr. Adams. These skills allowed him to earn a living as a carpenter, a profession he continued until he retired.
He migrated to St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands as a teenager. One day while at the Frederiksted airport, enjoying his pastime of watching airplanes depart and arrive, a beautiful young woman caught his attention. It was here that he met the love of his life, Esther St. Clair. They married September 25, 1974 in St. Lucia and God blessed them with five children.
Left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Esther, and five children Sheila (Renard) Warren, Dean (Carolyn) Simmonds, Sharae (Gene) Grant, Jerome (Stacy) Simmonds and Rebecca (Nicholas) Stewart. His mother, Ruth Ford; his father, Harold Simmons; brother, Vernon Ford, Jr.; sisters, Olivette Simmonds, Denise and Joleen Ford, Margaret (Sherman) Robinson and Phyllis Lewis; five grandchildren Gabrielle and Elijah Simmonds, Timothy Stewart, Shiloh and Abigail Francis and numerous relatives and friends.
