Randy was a fun guy to play scrabble against...his favorite word was panchax and I used to play against him when he used that screen name on M-Player in the late 90s!

Randy played one of the coolest words I ever saw at a Scrabble tourney, one year in Pigeon Forge, TN - -"vandyked", with no blanks !! He loved late singer from the '60s, Gene Pitney - -so do I. Gene had an unusual, distinctive voice. RIP Randy, a great guy ! My sincere sympathy to his loved ones. Bill scrabil@yahoo.com

My deepest condolences go out to the entire Greenspan family. I had the honor of flying back to Buffalo about ten years ago with his son, Reid to meet Randy and felt very comfortable in his home! May he rest in peace.

Even though Texas is far away from any place Randy lived, I already miss him dreadfully. As a competitive Scrabbler, I saw him when I directed and enjoyed his gentle sense of humor as he teased me about my southern accent. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and other friends.

Randy was a joy to be with. He was a terrific Scrabble player and taught me so much. Very encouraging and complementary even when he'd beat me by hundreds of points. He was also one of the funniest people I knew. He cracked me up! I admired him for he never let his illness stop him and he never complained about it--ever. We spent several years together and I will always remember the wonderful times. I was happy that he got to spend his last years in warm and sunny Florida with Patty, Noel, and family. I prefer to think of him as not leaving us, but going before us. God bless you Randy.

Randy was the dearest friend that I ever had.

He lent a compassionate ear to me any time that I experienced turmoil in my life. He would always have kind and uplifting things to say. He made me feel better.

He was a man almost without ego. No matter how competitive things got at a Scrabble tournament or one of our many, many "seshes", it was clear that what mattered to him the most were his
friendships and his family. I'd be hard-pressed to recall Randy ever having a negative thing to say about anyone. He was truly the "live and let live" type and he had countless
friends.

Randy's sense of humor had me laughing so often- another reason that I enjoyed his company.

We shared so many common interests besides playing Scrabble. We both loved crossword puzzles, nostalgia of all types, trivia and warm, sunny weather,to name just a few. Randy and I played thousands of practice games in our marathon "seshes". We went
on many Scrabble road trips together. We never ran out of things to talk about and confided in one another as true friends.

I was very fortunate to have shared so many fun times with Randy. I will always miss him and I will keep with
me the lessons of friendship and the strength to always carry on and pursue happiness regardless of what life throws at you, that he imparted to me.

Thanks, Randy. Thanks for being such a good friend to me.

My condolences to Randy's family. We were friends when I was at PS 22. We shared a love of Jerry Lewis movies. Randy was a sweet kid. Though many, many years have passed since we last saw each other, it's sad to learn of his passing.
