Here is a photo of Uncle Norm and Marge with my parents Fred and Barbara (Applebach) Betz in Colorado.

This is a hard one to write as it is for the Uncle I was named after "Norman" and I had hoped to get to see him again but that is not to be. I have always enjoyed being around Uncle Norm when I had an opportunity. Being from Colorado (and now Arizona) it has not been a lot of times. The one I remember the most was many years ago when Norm came to Colorado on his own. We drove up to the Betz house in Divide, Colo., and had fun one the way stopping outside Kit Carson to see a live buffalo herd. While we were staying at the house in Divide I took Uncle Norm fishing on Eleven Mile Reservoir. We took the old fishing boat that belonged to Grandpa Leonard Applebach and spent most of the day floating around on the lake. We were trolling for trout, but caught a good-sized samon. Then we decided it was a good time to try to catch a samon as we could see other gigging them along the shore line, but just our luck we caught a trout. While we were trolling suddenly an F-14 dive bombed us and set off a sound wave over the top of us. I have enjoyed each time I have seen Uncle Norm and the last time I remember when when he came to Lamar, Colo. for my father's funeral in Oct. 2010. I will miss our talks - even though they were infrequent, but I know he is in a better place. His family will always be special to me, and I am including a photos I have of him from 2010.
