March 11, 1920 – October 27, 2013 SIMI VALLEY, CA – Dr. Edwin J. Hirschtick, DDS passed away on October 27, 2013 at his home. “Doc” as he was fondly called, was born in Chicago, IL. In 1947, Edwin married Beverly Babendir, who preceded him in death (1994). Surviving are their children, Jeffrey Leigh Hirschtick of North Hollywood, CA, Karen Griffin (Casey) of Simi Valley, CA, Maralee Welch (Jim) of Agoura Hills, CA and Gary Mark Hirschtick of Newbury Park, CA. Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Doc lived in Chicago, IL, from 1920 to 1953. He attended the University of Illinois and served as a Captain in the Air Force during the Korean War. He moved with his family to Granada Hills, CA in 1953 and set up a dental practice. He lived with Beverly in Granada Hills for 26 years where he was a respected and well-liked dentist (he retired in 1990). He and Beverly moved to Camarillo in 1979. He resided in Simi for the past 10 years. Doc was an active member of the Jewish Community Center, Chamber of Commerce, Toast Masters and the Rotary Club of Granada Hills. Doc was an avid golfer, loved square dancing and enjoyed his trips to the casinos. He took pleasure in reading, writing poetry and working on crossword puzzles. Doc thought his greatest legacy was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He lit up a room with his smile, jokes and laughter. Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village, CA.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting you, Mr Hirschtick, but I love your daughter and by her, you did well. She has a heart of gold and your legacy will live on through her.

Sorry to hear of the passing of my favorite dentist. Dr. Hirschtick was not only the Pastko Family dentist, but the Hirschtick family and my family were good friends as well due to the fact that my dad and Ed grew up together. He will be missed by us all.
