On November 22, 2020, Elizabeth Carolyn Smith, age 94 of Newbury Park was called to the Lord. She was born in Akron Ohio on July 13, 1926 to Herbert Carr and Grace (Cooke) Carr. Her family moved west, and she attended University High School in Los Angeles and the University of San Diego School of Nursing.
While working as a nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles, she met her husband Herbert Craig Smith. They were married in 1956 and had three children, daughters Carolyn (Murphy) and Ellen (Turk) and a son, Jay.
She was a charge nurse at Brotman Memorial Hospital in Culver City for over 30 years. She was active in the Eastern Star serving as Deputy Grand Matron and Jobs Daughter’s and served many terms as their Bethel Guardian.
Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing, knitting and embroidery. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends.
She is survived by her family, daughters Carolyn (Tom Murphy), Ellen (Paul Turk) and son Jay (Bridget Smith). Grandchildren, Diana Turk, Jennifer (Hubi Schulze Zumkley) Steven (Francesca Turk), Mallory Murphy Zelaya, Shannon (Matt Brinkman), Marlaena (Robert Moran), Emma (Ishmael Valencia) and Isaiah Smith. She was blessed with twelve great grandchildren.
She was loved by all and will be honored in a private burial on December 3rd, 2020.
