G. Calvin (“Cal”) Seaman formerly of River Vale, New Jersey, age 94, passed away and went home to the Lord, on November 16, 2019. Cal is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary, and their two sons, Wayne of Rangeley, Maine and Russel and his wife, Diane of Fredon, New Jersey. Also surviving are his five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Cal is also survived by his nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his sister, Gladys Rotolo. Cal was born in North Bergen and then his family moved to Palisades Park where he graduated from Leonia High School in 1943. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and was assigned to the Navy Seabees. He participated in the Battles of Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa in the South Pacific while attached to the Fourth Marine Division. Cal entered Bucknell University in 1946 and earned a degree in Commerce and Finance, graduating in June of 1950. He then pursued a career in accounting and taxes, earning his C.P.A. license in 1960. He established his own CPA firm in Palisades Park, New Jersey before retiring over 35 years later. Mary and Cal spent every summer vacationing in Rangeley, Maine. He thoroughly enjoyed the lake and mountain paradise. While residing in River Vale, New Jersey, he was a member of the River Vale Lions Club, and was at one time the King Lion. He was a devout member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Old Tappan, New Jersey, and taught Sunday school there for 25 years. Cal was an outstanding athlete in high school and college in the sports of football, baseball, and boxing. He was an avid golfer and bowler. In his spare time, he loved woodcutting and wood splitting, spending hours at the wood pile calling it “his therapy”. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, New Jersey. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, between 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. Funeral service at 11 A.M. Interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
