

LAMMERS, Gloria, 92, of River Vale, NJ, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014. Gloria was born in Jersey City, NJ. She married her husband George in 1942 and moved to Seattle where George was stationed during World War II. Gloria took a government job doing office work in order to be near George. After the war, Gloria and George moved to North Bergen where they lived with and cared for Gloria’s parents, before residing for 25 years in Bergenfield. In 1994 they moved to Holiday Farm Condo in River Vale. George died in 1998 after 56 years of marriage. Gloria worked as a waitress and hostess in various restaurants in Bergen County where she developed many lasting friendships. Her last job was as hostess for 30 years at the Clinton Inn in Tenafly. Gloria was active in volunteer work and served for many years at the Pascack Valley Hospital, as well as on the local election board. Gloria is survived by her daughter, Linda Lammers, her nieces, Dolores Locascio, Gail Calabria and nephew, Bruce Astorri. The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Thursday, August 7 from 3-7PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Gloria’s life and faith will be held at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 69 Valley Street, Hillsdale, NJ on Friday, August 8 at 11AM. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
