It is with great sadness that the family of Ilso P. Martinez announce his passing on November 19th, 2020. Ilso P. Martinez was born in the town of Fomento, Cuba on May 17th, 1935 by his mother Angela Martinez and father Luis C. Martinez. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Julia Martinez whom he called endearingly Mimi ; children: Danny and Gisela as well as son in law Isnoel Abreu; grandchildren: Melissa, Alex, Janielle, David, Rikhil and Laura; Sisters Gisela, Chucha, Mireya; great-grand children Mia Lakshmi and Rian Sain as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Ilso P. Martinez came to the U.S in 1955, in search of the American dream. He achieved this with only being educated until the 6th grade by making himself one of the best car mechanics, but not before he met the love of his life Julia at a Tootsie Roll factory and they have shared a beautiful life for 63 years.

Ilso was a devoted husband, father, grand-father and great-grandfather. He was a man of many passions including fishing, gardening, cars, listening to Cuban Son, watching discover channel and learning about other places and animals around the world, playing dominoes, bird watching, and trying new foods and dishes. He was such an exceptional person. There were no limits to him, he always challenged himself to grow and to learn more and more. Truly was a person that made you feel welcomed and happy to be by his side. Few on this earth his equal we will ever find. He was honorable and upright in all his ways, loyal and true to the end of his days. Forever adored and missed.

The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ will be held on Sunday, November 22nd from 7PM-9PM with a Celebration of Ilso's life and faith will be held on November 22nd at 8:30PM and private cremation to follow.

Dominos, boxing matches, “Carlos”, family get togethers, the wedding, the day my niece was born, fishing, the talks while smoking cigars, the laughs, these are but a few of the wonderful memories I will always have of Ilso. He welcomed me into the family with open arms. He never allowed this “in-law” to feel like an in-law. He made me feel as family. For over 35 years, we were and will continue to be family because of the love you shared with me. Thank you for being one of the four men who showed me what it is to be a man.
Con todo mi amor,
Ignacio
