Born in Hartford on February 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Fred E. and Ethel M. (Brinkman) McKinney. Doris graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Hillyer College of Hartford and worked for many years as a medical secretary until her retirement from Hartford Hospital.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Doris will be forever missed by her devoted husband John; four children, Nancy Soaft and husband Paul of Glastonbury, Carol Kyser and husband Timothy of Colchester, Lynne Bagnati and husband Brian of East Haddam and John Maycock and wife Jennifer of Wethersfield; her nine adored grandchildren, Olivia and Emma Soaft, Sarah, Allison and Andrew Kyser, Jennifer and Benjamin Bagnati and Emily and Jack Maycock and three cherished great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, William and Richard McKinney and her sister, Marjorie McKinney. Special thanks to her caregivers Derria, Rose and Tiffany for their care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday (January 23) at 10 a.m. at First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours.
