He was blessed to meet Filomena, who he married in 2004. John worked as a bus driver for CT Transit, retiring after thirty years of dedicated service. He was an avid bowler and a longtime league member of T-Bowl in Newington. In addition, he was a member of the Mt. Carmel/St. Cristina Society. He enjoyed spending time in his vast vegetable garden, his winters in Florida, making wine and being outdoors. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. We just heard the news. Our hearts are broken. We will forever cherish the times we had talking in the garden and listening to John’s stories. We were blessed to have such a special neighbor.

To the Family of Giovanni Bellizzi,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of your dear husband, father, and grandfather. My late mother, Phyllis (Bellizzi) Ricciuti was a paisan of John’s, having also been born in San Basile. I remember over the years the many visits between my parents and grandparents to Gennaro and Teresa’s home and with John and his family. Although we have not been in touch over recent years, I will remember John as a pleasant, happy man with a twinkle in his eye, a warm smile, and a kind greeting to everyone. A good man who will always be remembered with love.

Dearest Giovanni, I will never forget your engaging smile and your fun filled spirit. You were the life of every gathering and our families had so many times together from the moment we met you and Albina when you came to America. The friendship and love you shared with my parents will never be forgotten by my family. You were a loving, kind and giving man to everyone who was blessed to know you.
My condolences to Filomena, Mario, Jerry, Teresa and your grandchildren.
Riposi in Pace, carissimo Giovanni. Non ti dimentico mai.
