Joseph M. Casparino, 92, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 60 years of the late Claire Ann (Scavullo) Casparino, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on August 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Michael and Rose (Faillace) Casparino and had lived in the area all his life. Joe was a proud WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. Joe was a longtime faithful communicant of St. James Church in Rocky Hill and also belonged to the St. James Men’s Club for years. Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed playing golf with his cronies and was a regular for many years at Goodwin Park. Joe also enjoyed reading and spending Sundays with his great-granddaughter, Lily. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. He was affectionately known as “Ravioli Joe” at Steve’s Restaurant in Rocky Hill, where he was a regular on Tuesdays. More than anything, he was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be forever missed by his three devoted children, Joseph J. Casparino and wife Amy, Deb LaFrancis and fiancé Mark Setaro and James R. Casparino and wife Lorraine, all of Rocky Hill; eight adored grandchildren, Ben Casparino, Michele LaFrancis, Anthony LaFrancis, Troy Casparino and Lauren Bacon, Daniel Casparino and wife Sarah, Nicholas Casparino and wife Samantha, Natalie O’Connor and Lorette O’Connor and two cherished great-granddaughters, Lily Casparino and Gianna Casparino. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Casparino; his sister, Theresa Flaherty and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
