Maureen E. Ivers

February 5, 1946March 25, 2021

Maureen Elizabeth (Crotty) Ivers, of Wethersfield, died peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 75. She was born in the Bronx to Helen (Attridge) and Raymond Crotty. She grew up in Pelham, New York where she met the love of her life, and husband of 52 years, Walter E. Ivers, Jr. Maureen graduated from the Academy of the Resurrection, Elizabeth Seton College and the College of Mount Saint Vincent, with a major in French. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University. She spent wonderful years teaching in Bryan Texas, and at Fuller, Chester and Emerson Williams schools in Wethersfield, where she and Wally made their home for 51 years. Through the years, Maureen greatly enjoyed playing bridge and Mah Jongg, bowling, golf and gardening. She and Wally were enthusiastic NY Giant, NY Yankee, UConn and Villanova basketball fans. Attending concerts and plays were a weekly (or more) happening. Above all, her family was the center of her life.

Besides her beloved husband, Wally, Maureen leaves behind her daughters, Kathryn “Kate” Kudlac and her husband Christopher “Chris” of Glastonbury; and Kristine Ivers and her partner Paulo Outeiro of Wethersfield. Her life revolved around her grandchildren, and she and Wally rarely missed watching, with pride, any team they were on. They are twins, Avery and Riley, and Holden Kudlac, and P.J. and Tyler Outeiro. She also leaves her brothers, Raymond Crotty (Laurie) of Florida and Thomas Crotty (Irene) of New York, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews, including her godchildren: Jennifer Neubert, Thomas Crotty, Jr. and Andrew Ivers.

Calling hours will be Tuesday (March 30) from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial in Village Cemetery, Old Wethersfield will be private at a later date. Rest in peace Maureen, knowing that you are truly loved and missed by many. Dear Wally and family,
We were so sorry to learn of Maureen's passing.
Loving wife, devoted mother, dedicated teacher and loyal friend---
These attributes but skim the surface of the "woman of substance" that was our friend Maureen.
May she find peace in the arms of her loving Father.
Our love to you all,
Peter and Barbara

I only knew Maureen through swimming - it was rare for there to be a swim meet without her sitting in the front, cheering on her grandchildren. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed.

I have very fond memories of Maureen. She spent time with me on Martha’s Vineyard. Always enjoyed her company! She and Wally joined us with other friends on a wonderful cruise to the Bahamas and neighboring islands. We shared lunch together with our friends at her home and mine for years. Many great times in the past. I have so many pictures and memories. Will miss her and have her forever in my prayers. Rest In Peace Maureen❤️❤️
