Victoria (Lombruno) Neekamp Vecchiolla, our beloved aunt passed away peacefully in the quiet of the night at the age of 101 on February 11, 2019. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Ralph and Mary (Guadagno) Lombruno on December 23, 1917 and grew up in the South End of Hartford. Before retirement, she worked as a Secretary at the Hartford Insurance Group for many years, where she met the love of her life, her first husband William (Bill) Neekamp. Victoria and William enjoyed their life together until his death in 1959. Victoria married her second husband Paul Vecchiolla and lived in West Hartford before they moved to Old Lyme. She enjoyed her many walks along the streets of Old Lyme with her dogs, Tiffany and Merlin. She was a member of the Miami Beach Association and Hawks Nest Beach, as well as the Old Lyme Senior Center. She was an avid knitter and crocheted many beautiful Afghans and intricate doilies. She also spent time listening to her radio and playing Scrabble and cards; she played a mean game of setback. She enjoyed tending her garden each summer and planting her flowers, along with watching the birds she fed on her deck. Victoria’s family has cherished their time with her and will forever miss her lively sense of humor and loving nature. Victoria was predeceased by her husband Paul, her parents Ralph and Mary, her stepfather Michael Angelo Valvo, her sisters and their husbands, Josephine and Frank Cortesa, Mary and Anthony Pignone, and her niece Ann Marie Sweeney.
