Donald James Gurskey

November 22, 1947January 9, 2021

Donald James (Don) went to be with his Lord on January 9, 2021 at the age of

He was predeceased by an infant brother, his father, Herman in 1990, father-in-law, Dwight Morrison in 2011 and sister, Marlene in 2020.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay of 53 ½ year; daughter, Wendy (John) Colbow and family, Justin (Nicole Morin), Chantel (Jason Alzomal) and children Mila and Jada Alzomal, Brittany and Elizabeth; son, William Gurskey; son, Wesley (Patti) Gurskey and children, Carter (KayLyn Thompson), Dakota (Johny Friesen), Rebecca and Cooper; mother, Ida and sisters, Joyce (Lloyd) Scott and Myrna Hunter; mother-in-law, Edna Morrison as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Don was born November 22, 1947 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He spent the first month of his life fighting pneumonia. Don attended school in Amulet and Pangman High. He belonged to the Ogema Band playing the clarinet. His passion was farming from the time he was small and he started farming with his father at the young age of 16 when he got his first quota book.

On June 30, 1967 Don married Kay Morrison and had celebrated 53 years in 2020. Their family started in 1968 with the birth of their daughter, Wendy Patricia and two sons, William Donald in 1971 and Wesley James in 1974. In 1989 his grandchildren began to arrive with the last of 8 being born in 2011.

Don’s number one passion was farming but the Pangman Co-op was his second and he served on the board for just over 40 years. He loved building with wood and metal and created many projects from remodelling, building from scratch, building trailers and fabricating machinery. Don served on the Parish Council of Holy Angels Catholic Church and Radius Credit Union Board. He always believed that if you belong to an organization you should always give it 110%.

Don sadly lost his last battle on January 9th, 2021 at 11:30 p.m. at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina. The family would like to thank the Pangman EMS and the Emergency Room staff for the loving care they provided.

When I met Donna I could not believe how many relatives I got to meet, and Don was very welcoming to me. I didn't see him a lot but when we ran into each other there was a lot to say ... until our wives decided it was time to go. RIP Don. It was good to know you.

I will always remember Don as such a friendly and kind person. He was quite the storyteller and when he got laughing you couldn't help but laugh too. I will be thinking of you all and hope that the good memories help you get through the sad days ahead. So very sorry for your loss.
