Ulla was born on March 27, 1935 in Norresyndry, Denmark. She was raised in Denmark with a family of 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Ulla moved to Canada on April 6, 1960. They moved to Weyburn, Saskatchewan and that is where she has resided until her passing.
She met Peter Aamundsen and married him on November 15, 1952 in Aalborg, Denmark.
She was very involved in Girl Scouts as a child and attended Grade School and graduated from Grade 12 in Denmark.
She was employed cooking at various locations when she first moved to Canada and then became the director of care at the Pioneer Place for 25 years.
Ulla enjoyed ceramic sculptures, knitting and reading.
She was very involved with the Legion Ladies auxiliary.
Ulla was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, in Denmark.
Ulla is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Peter Aamundsen of Weyburn, SK; three sons, Carsten (Kendra) Aamundsen of Moose Jaw, SK, John (Sheila) Aamundsen of Edmonton, AB and Ken Aamundsen of Sylvan Lake, AB; five grandchildren, Curtis Aamundsen, Alynne (Gary) Knibbs, Dina Hubbard (Jeff Hardum), Cara Ross and Kaylen (Sarah) Ficko; six great grandchildren, Zakery, Jasmyn, Chase, Kennidy and Katie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives in Denmark and friends
Ulla loved her family very much and they were very important to her.
A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00PM from Fletcher Funeral Chapels, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Rev. John Ferrier officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Pallbearers were Carsten Aamundsen, Johnny Aamundsen and Kenny Aamundsen. Donations in memory of Ulla may be made to Alzheimer’s Society.
