Marjorie Irene Vohoska

December 13, 1925July 7, 2021

Marjorie Irene Martin Vohoska, 95, passed away at home in Centennial, Colorado from natural causes on July 7, 2021. She was born on a farm in Blairstown, Iowa to Joseph and Marcella Martin. She married the love of her life, Vernon Douglas Vohoska in 1946 and remained with him until his death in 2010. Marjorie went to a consolidated high school in Blairstown where she was a star basketball player and valedictorian. Immediately after graduation, she went to work and ultimately ended up in Denver. She and Vern were married in their hometown in Iowa, remaining there until 1952 when the family relocated to Colorado.

Over the years Marjorie and Vern were partners in many successful small businesses. They continued to buy and sell businesses throughout their marriage. Vern always said that he made the money, but she was the one that saw to it that they kept it. Marjorie continued to take meticulous care of the books for their businesses right up until her death at 95. They enjoyed dividing their time between homes in Arizona and Colorado. Their love for travel led to extended vacations in Australia and Hawaii and Europe.

Marjorie was known for her quick wit, her great sense of humor, her sparkling blue eyes and her inherent beauty. She was strong, independent, stubborn and fiercely loyal to those she loved and cared about. She loved animals and was a strong supporter of numerous animal charities.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Janelle Lampshire, of Centennial, Colorado, her brothers Robert and Richard Martin of Traer, Iowa, her brother-in law Virgil Vochoska of Anchorage, Alaska, many nieces and nephews, her dear friend, Lynn Matsunaga of Honolulu, Hawaii and her beloved grand-dog, Missy of Centennial, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marcella Martin, husband Vernon, her son Kevin and her brothers Russell and Donald Martin.

Aunt Marj is for me an exemplar of one who lived life to the full. I always think of her and Uncle Vern as working hard, enjoying the rewards of their labor, and taking the ups and downs of life in stride. There's a picture from my parents' wedding where Marj and Vern are just bursting with joy at the reception afterward--and that's the way I'll always remember them. May they rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Janelle, Lynn and the grand-puppy along with the rest of the surviving family. She was an amazing person and absolutely a quick wit. She will be greatly missed but I imagine Vern has been waiting a long time for this reunion! Both were my most favorite customers of all time and so in love. Rest in peace dear Marjorie.
