Siria Celia Esquibel

Siria Esquibel Devoted mother and grandmother Siria Esquibel left the world on Friday, May 6, 2022, with family by her side. Siria was born to Anselmo Esquibel and Carolina Gonzalez in Canjilon, New Mexico on August 6, 1935. Siria was the youngest of 14 children and the last remaining of her generation. As a child, she was adventurous and loved to be outdoors. Her fearless and determined personality led her to climbing the highest trees, grabbing water snakes, and skipping rocks. This didn’t stop her from helping her mom roll tortillas in the kitchen and help maintain the household. Siria was a strong independent woman skilled in a wide variety of trades including working as an office assistant, a farm hand, a seamstress and a housekeeper. She was blessed with three children: Helen, Lora, and Harold. She nurtured and cared deeply for her kids while teaching them to be respectful, honest, and kind. She loved to clean and maintain an organized home but on her free time you could find her embroidering pillowcases and doilies, making everyday clothes from scratch and baking. Siria was very family oriented, often visiting her sisters and brothers or taking the time to call them. She always welcomed family with open arms into her home and loved them whole heartedly. Siria is survived by her three children, Helen Valdez, Lora Valdez, and Harold Esquibel, ten grandchildren and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and thirteen brothers and sisters. Siria will especially be remembered by her beautiful smile and fiery spirit that served to strengthen and encourage everyone she met.
