Wilbert (Wil) Levi Rendon, 80, of Denver, CO, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2023.
He was born on August 16, 1943 to Maria Elisaida and Jose Rafael Rendon in San Acacio, Colorado. Wil was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
After graduating from Alamosa High School in 1962, Wil enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he spent 4 years serving around the world as part of the U.S. Submarine Service. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor and proudly served his country while spending months at a time beneath the ocean, first on board the Gato class submarine USS Bluegill, followed by an assignment on the James Madison class ballistic submarine USS Daniel Boone. Wil received the National Defense Service Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. Soon after being discharged from the Navy, he moved to Denver, CO.
Wil married the love of his life, Kathy (Morales) Rendon on September 16, 2000. They enjoyed traveling, gardening and fishing together.
Wil worked for many years at Purina and retired in 2012. He spoke fondly of his childhood in the San Luis Valley and visited there often. Wil loved having fun with his friends and family - especially his grandkids. He was known for his fun-loving, caring, and kind nature, and also his sweet tooth!
In 1969 Wil married his first wife, with whom he had two sons Kevin and Stephen, who were his pride and joy. From childhood sporting events to celebrations and challenges in adulthood, Wil was their constant supporter.
Wil is survived by his wife Kathy Rendon, children Kevin Rendon, Steve (Kathy) Rendon and Ronnie (Cathy) Morales, grandchildren Marcos, Carlo and Alannah Rendon, Chantae Mascarenas and Ashley Morales, great grandchildren Enicia, D.J., Zariana and Aiviana, siblings Gloria Armenta and Mary Trujillo and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Rendon and Henry and Elisaida Cordova.
