Wilfred “Wil” John Cwikiel, age 79, of White Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2021 surrounded by loving family members. Wil was born on October 1, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan to Harry T. and Bellvena Cwikiel of Commerce Township. He graduated from Walled Lake Central in 1959, attended college at Lawrence Technological University, and had a successful career in the metal fabricating industry. He loved airplanes, golfing, boating, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He is remembered for his wry sense of humor, creativity, stained glass work, mechanical talents, problem-solving skills, teaching others a love for nature, and his ability to sit behind the wheel for hours on cross-country road trips. He was an active member of the Multi-Lakes Conservation Club, where he particularly enjoyed working the Friday night fish frys and the camaraderie of fellow outdoorsmen. Wil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joann Elizabeth Cwikiel (Dean) of 26 years, his youngest son, Jeffrey Christopher Cwikiel, his brother Ted Cwikiel, and his sister Linda Colyer (Cwikiel). He is survived by his wife of 28 years Diana “Dee” Cwikiel (Kahn); sister Stephanie Marcum (Cwikiel); children Michael Cwikiel (Wanda Bernard), John Wilfred Cwikiel (Gail Gruenwald), and daughter Annemarie Cwikiel-Glavin (Jamie Glavin); step-children Wayne Kaplan and Robin Kaplan Schnell (Phillip Schnell); grandchildren Christina Cwikiel, Calla Glavin Beauregard, Kate Cwikiel, Jeffrey Ryan Glavin, Sadie Cwikiel, Skylar Kaplan, Zachary Kaplan, Adin Schnell, and Caleb Schnell; great-grandchildren Korilynne Farquhar, Xander Trouche, Xayden Trouche, and Jamielynn Trouche; great-great-grandchild Anthony Thomas Farquhar; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Wil’s life will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his home in White Lake, Michigan. This will be an informal affair with words of remembrance from family and friends starting at 3:00 pm.
