Janet Sue Messerschmidt

She graduated from North High School and for 37 years was a dedicated employee of the Wichita Police Department. She was hard working and always ready to help others. Her beloved dogs were the joy of her life. Although she loved being home with her little dog, she treasured time spent with family and friends. She was smart and independent, but also sweet and funny, always had a smile and hug for everyone.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Gilbert and Betty Messerschmidt, step-mother Rosalyn Ewertz Messerschmidt, Brothers Charles Messerschmidt and Charles Ewertz.

She is survived by sister: Peggy (Stephen) Arnold; nephews: Branden (Holly) Arnold and Aaron (Jessie) Messerschmidt; niece: Jessica (Malcom) Scott; brothers: Gary (Kathy) Ewertz and Ken (Aryls) Ewertz; sisters: Millie (Bill) Ekstrom, Mary Shearer, Karen Price (Eric Shoenecker), and Anita (Dale) Blasi; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves an extended family of lifelong friends.

A memorial celebration for Janet will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1pm. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
