Sherwood, Stephen P. "Steve", 70, of Augusta, Kansas passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at his home. Steve was born the son of Hubert "H.M." and Penelope (Coukoulis) Sherwood on February 19, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1966. Steve served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1976, as a Missile Technician First Class, assigned to the USS Hunley, serving in Vietnam and Guam conflicts. After being honorably discharged, Steve then owned and operated his own electronics business for 28 years in Independence. Steve and Susan Evans were united in marriage on April 21, 2002 in Independence, Kansas. After closing his business he worked 14 years at the DEWLEN-DIX VFW Post 1186 as Quarter Master/Adjutant in Independence. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Krista Sherwood, two older brothers, Edward and Ronnie Sherwood and two older sisters, Barbara Lindgren and Judy Fienen. Survivors include his loving wife, Susan Sherwood of Augusta, children, Brian (Stacey) Evans of Harrison Township, MI, Jason (Tarren) Evans of Grove, OK, Stacy (Brad) Boyer of Independence, Jeffrey (Karla) Sherwood of El Paso, TX, brother, Michael (Rachel) Sherwood of Newberg, OR, 14 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter and 1 granddaughter on the way. Cremation has taken place. Private family graveside services will be held in Independence at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name and loving memory to Interim Hospice, 9920 E. Harry St., Wichita, KS 67207.

Steve was a great guy. Always there to help in community projects and fundraisers. I will never forget his ability to write a poem or ride a tricycle in a rain coat. Fun times when Steve was around.
