Joan Eveline Vink, 82, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully in her sleep, Friday, August 3rd.

She was born in Windsor, England on September 10th, 1935 to the late William and Miriam Farmer.

She was raised in Maidenhead, and while working for a landscaping firm, met her future husband, Jack. Two years after they were married, they emigrated to the United States. After working in retail sales in downtown Wilmington, she stayed home to raise her children. She retired from Medac in 2012, after 26 years. She loved to garden, read, collect antiques and bake treats for her grandchildren. A trusted friend and confidant, Joan was known for her wit and dry sense of humor. Until the very end, her main concern was the well being and care of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Miriam Doris Reynolds.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jacobus “Jack” Vink of Wilmington, children Roger Vink (Kimberly) of Leland, Jacqueline Wiseman (Tom) of Elgin, SC, grandchildren, Melissa Vink of Raleigh, Tyler Wiseman of Aiken, SC, MacKenzie Wiseman of Elgin, SC and Jacobus Vink of Camp LeJeune.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 8th, 11:00am at Coble Ward - Smith Funeral & Cremation Service in Wilmington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to an organization that was essential at the end of our mother’s life, Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401
