

Leslie George “Bud” Hollenbeck of Burlington, MA, formerly of Bedford, MA and Hampstead, NC passed away at the age of 99 on September 16, 2021. He is survived by his son Craig Hollenbeck (wife Michele); son Jon Hollenbeck; daughter Jan Hollenbeck (husband Scott Brewitt); grandson Peter Hollenbeck (wife Sunnie); grandson Alex Hollenbeck (wife Silvey) and great grandchildren Tor and Britton Hollenbeck. Predeceased by his beloved wife Lorayne and sisters Dorothy Anstey, Myrtle Dodd, and Spray Richardson, and his later life companion Lorraine Devoe.
Bud was born in Cooperstown, NY, and spent his childhood in Hyde Park, MA. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 18 and served in World War II as a Signalman aboard the Battleship USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) in the Pacific from 1940-46 (8 Battle Stars). He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He shared his story with many over the years and was a regular speaker at Pearl Harbor and Veterans Day events. As a Dec 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor Survivor, he shared his story with many over the years and participated in numerous veterans activities, including Pearl Harbor Day commemorative events in Wilmington.
A memorial service will be held at Andrews Hampstead Chapel/Sea Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 17750 US-17, Hampstead, NC 28443 on Tuesday, Dec. 28th at 1:00 PM. All are welcome.
