January 14, 1941 – July 2, 2021
Mildred (Micki) Shinault Quesada, 80, died peacefully at The Robin Johnson House July 2, 2021. She was born January 14, 1941, in Ivanhoe, VA.
Micki was the first in her immediate family to continue her education, graduating from Cape Fear Technical Institute in Wilmington, NC with a degree in Business Administration. Many will remember her from the 30+ years she worked 3rd shift at Jimbo’s Breakfast & Lunch House in Wilmington, NC. She never met a stranger and formed many friendships over the years.
Micki was a devoted mother, wife, and friend. She lived her life with strength, humor, and courage. Micki loved her family, her furkids, cross-stich and reading. She could be found sitting in her favorite chair, surrounded by her poodles, working on projects such as a baby blankets for grandchildren or friends. She poured all her love into her needlework, and it was exceptional.
She is preceded in death by her mother Thelma Warf Riley, her father David Emmett Shinault, her son Carmen (Sonny) Jarose, Jr. and grandson Charles (Charlie) Vernon, Jr, and husband Samuel Quesada. She is survived by children Debbie Kavanaugh (Bill) of Tulsa, OK, Samuel Jarose of Wilmington, NC, Melanie Rich (James) of Lexington, SC, and Cyndy Shedd of Belmont, NC, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Caromont Hospice and the staff at the Robin Johnson House. A special thank you to Brian Stiles for many years of care, attention, and friendship given to her (and us girls) during her lengthy illness.
A celebration of Micki's life will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens 306 Bradley Dr, Wilmington, NC 28409 on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of her life may be made to The Robin Johnson House, 5005 Shepherds Way Drive, Dallas, NC 28034. (https://www.caromonthealth.org/Locations/Hospice/Gaston-Hospice/Robin-Johnson-House.aspx).
