Forever Remembered

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Charlain (Char) Vanderhyde at the Donwood Manor Personal Care Home on July 7, 2019. Char was surrounded by her loving husband of 63 years Larry and her five children, son Todd Vanderhyde and his wife Alanna residing in Winnipeg, Teri Bristol residing in Virginia, Troy Vanderhyde residing in Texas, Tony Vanderhyde residing in Arizona and Tim Vanderhyde and his wife Sheila residing in Winnipeg. Char was also a proud grandmother to Ashley, Alex, Tyler, Cassidy, Brittany, Brianne, Dustin and Connor.

Char was born in Madison Minnesota on August 18, 1934. She attended High School in Kenyon, Minnesota where Char and Larry fell in love. Char and Larry were married on March 31, 1956 in Waukegan, Illinois while Larry was serving in the U.S. Army. One day after their wedding, Larry was ordered to Korea for 16 months. Sixty three years of love and wonderful times followed.

Char was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters and is survived by her brother Larry McLagan residing in Owatonna, Minnesota.

Char is fondly remembered for her love of her family and her many amazing abilities. Char was a fantastic cook, and skilled in many crafts including quilting, sewing, carving and painting. Char loved the outdoors and had many happy times camping and fishing with her family and husband Larry.

The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to the many dedicated staff at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home where Char spent two years and four months being cared for on 2 North.

Char, nothing can express the sadness of your husband Larry and your five wonderful and loving children. We love you Char and will be with you soon.
