Ha To Bo

Ha was born in Saigon, Vietnam to Lu Xuong and Bo Muoi on March 9, 1936, and was the third of four children. He never shied away from hard work and at the tender age of 13, he became a tool and die apprentice, to help support his family. Within 5 years, he had mastered his trade and started his own business. In 1960, he met Nu and they were married 5 years later. Together, they started a successful factory manufacturing cabinet locks, which they ran for over a decade. Following the end of the Vietnam war, Ha and Nu made the difficult decision to leave their home country, to give their children a better life in Canada. Starting a new life in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada was not easy but Ha never regretted it. He was immensely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He worked for 13 years with the City of Brandon Parks Department. Upon retirement, Ha enjoyed spending time at local coffee shops, discussing politics and the weather with anyone who would listen. In 2012, Ha and Nu moved to Winnipeg, where he lived until his passing.

Ha is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nu; four children, Michael (Patricia) of Ottawa, Quyen (Patricia) of Seattle, Trac (Tannis) of Calgary, and Dinh (Wade) Bo-Maguire of Winnipeg; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Micaela, Katherine, Matthias, William, Sophie, Tyce, Cade, and Kai; sister, Lai; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and two older brothers.

Private interment will be held at Thomson “In the Park” on January 19, 2019.
