It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Jaime Francisco Asuncion on August 10, 2022 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 75.
He is survived by his loving wife (Carmelita), children Jaycee (Steven), Jenneth (Adam), John (Rhymes), Alex (Rhona), Rex (Marie), Randy (Ave Gayle), Allan, sisters Jovita (Roberto), Mercedita (Marcelino), Josefina (Jimmy), Teresita (Danilo), in-laws Clarence, Julie and 18 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents Beatrize and Virgilio, sisters Virginia (Bienvinido), Ederlinda, Rolando, and brother Arnel.
In his early 20’s, Jaime moved to Canada from the Philippines in search of a better life. He started his journey in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he would work odd jobs. Jaime then relocated to Toronto, Ontario where his fiancé, Carmelita made the journey from the Philippines to join his side. The two were married in Toronto and later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where they together would call home.
Jaime lived a simple life, which was always one of his basic tenets. Jaime accomplished his 30-year career as a bus driver for City of Winnipeg Transit and Beaver Bus Lines. While this was where he spent his days, his true passion was his family and friends. Along with raising three beautiful children, Jaime & Carmelita, also adopted and loved four more sons from the Philippines. One could always see how proud he was of all his children and the great love, laughter, and enjoyment he shared with his grandchildren.
In his spare time, he would often have a hammer in his hands helping friends and family building basements, garages or decks. Jaime left the Philippines in search of a better life, instead he found the best one.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the Lord our God for allowing us the wonderful gift of sharing many beautiful years with Jaime. We would like to thank the many family, friends and relatives for all the prayers, the many caregivers including the staff at St. Boniface hospital and most of all, the many family and friends who made sure he was not alone until his peaceful passing on August 10th.
