James Darryl Aiken, 45, of Winston-Salem ended his courageously fought battle with cancer on Monday, February 13 at 12:50 p.m. surrounded by his mother, Mary Ann Long, and his sisters, Dianne Aiken Lawler, Donna Aiken, and Sonja Long Jones and two dear Hospice angels. Darryl was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a 6-year Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a talented photographer, but his true expertise was in restoring old photographs and giving families wonderful pieces of their history and photographs of their ancestors.
Darryl was preceded in death by his father, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
In respect of Darryl’s wishes, there will be no formal service or funeral. A Celebration of His Life will be planned for a later date and notification will be placed on his CaringBridge page. Anyone wishing to send flowers is encouraged to make a donation in Darryl’s name to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem.
